LIFE ON THE FINAL FRONTIER

When I met her

She was staring at the night sky,

Tight, over-washed 501s

A white vest like a chiton

Should have known,

Alien fixation.

She had posters

Toys // Models //

Films //Books & magazines

You get the picture:

Green men

Everywhere.

‘Men are from mars

Women are from Jupiter’s moons’

I laughed at the time,

Her mum had died

In a car crash years before

I think this goes some way to explaining it.

If we’re the only ones out there,

We’re the only ones in here

And there’s comfort

In the blue fruit and colour

Of space

Even if it’s as empty

As a pretty landscape by Turner
