SONG TO A WANDERER

What other reason is there for living
Than to smash the chains that bind
Us to the inside of the cave where
Shadows move across firelit walls
And venture forth under the canopy of stars
Where there are no reflections other
Than those we choose to place there
And where destination remains uninhibited
By subterranean passage made aeons prior
To where greater and wilder obstacles abound
To greater trespasses and adventure yet
Finally, to be free enough to allow
Both body and mind to wander

What other reason is there for life?
