GROUND FOG

In the ground up water
Is the eye's noise
Things step out
From cloying
Wet perfume

The belly of a ghost
Fearful go the cyclists
Bikes like beasts aside
Floating above their shoes
Through soluble old stone
Snips of cloth, bits of people
Only light cutting through
Moving beacons on the road
Like the lamps of our fathers
Heading off into some distance

Hanging cloud like a giant
Greedy to consume big all
And as the kid stories told
We wet from birth disgorge
From the stomach lining
Gather ourselves & render
The air with our image
