I began to call it
'The old Reliable'
though I didn't really
know how to drive
one red wet day
going too fast
it lurched into a ditch,
a muddy little hell
passengers survived
intact: modestly bruised
very, very dirty
we found a new car
further down the motorway
looks like it might
drive for years and years
through more wet days
